Leisure and Structured Programming and Activity

The staff will develop individual and group plans for all residents.  These calendars are posted and are available to residents to keep in rooms upon request. They are subject to change based on resident interest and other current events.

Most events and activities are included in the monthly fees.  Occasionally there may be a fee associated with a special event or service.  This will be advertised in advance and, with consent, may be added to monthly fees. These fees will vary pending the cost of the event.

Assuring a resident’s well-being is a combination of supportive services and enjoyable activities uniquely designed for each resident.  Multiple daily activities to stimulate the mind, body and spirit will be posted.  A resident is encouraged to structure their own day or staff will provide assistance through written activity calendars and verbal reminders to participate.  Large group, small group, and individual therapeutic programming options at all levels of care could include activities to stimulate language or number skills, physical and psychosocial interaction such as:

Physical:

Daily exercise, walk to dine programs.

Life skills:

Table setting, baking clubs, fix-it.

Psychosocial:

Interactive music and/or sing-a-longs, live entertainment, games.

Arts & crafts:

Arts and crafts, painting.

Current events:

Local news, world views, and community happenings.

Sensory:

Aromatherapy, Hand/foot massage, pet therapy.

Outdoor activities:

 Gardening, walks.

Spiritual:

Devotions, worship services, hymn sing.

Modifying typical activities for persons with dementia helps integrate the resident with those unaffected while maintaining dignity.  Supportive, modified activities specific to those afflicted with dementia are incorporated inclusive of those who do not sleep at night.
